Even before #Covid19, this household was an avid RedMart customer. I’d say at least once a month. Now that I’m staying home and I’m not out everyday, I don’t get to go to the supermarket as often as I used to, even more so when we went into a somewhat-lockdown.
It’s convenient, easy to use, prices are reasonable (although H always nags at me to compare their prices with other supermarkets) and the delivery service is pretty reliable.
I’ve never had any major issues with them, except once when they did not inform me that my delivery had been made and so my items were all sitting there in front of my gate for about 15 mins before I realised they were there. To be fair, the pandemic has made them busier than usual and they’ve been getting a surge of orders but hey, at least drop me a message?
Anyway.
There are a few things that I always get each time I cart out and I thought I would share with you what they are. Of course, the ones I’ll list are only the mama-baby-blw-related items, and there are a lot of other stuff I get for the house and for my general cooking that I won’t bore you with.
- ModernMum foods. I usually get this broccoli set or this set with cauliflower because it’s SO EASY to prep and give N. They are already washed and cut into smaller florets, perfect for little hands to grab. All I do is pop them into the steamer with some spices or butter and then serve.
From the same brand, I also get the pumpkin pack and the sweet potato pack. Similarly, already washed and cut into small pieces so just roast or steam away! I store these in the freezer so they last longer.
- Sujion Frozen Mixed Berries. These are super handy to have in your freezer as well, especially for mornings where you just don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen prepping breakfast. Grab a handful, leave them to thaw then serve with yoghurt! Or, puree them and make pancakes with some oat flour. Note though: this one is not in my cart every month. The packet is quite large and can last a good while.
- Kiddylicious. My favourite brand of snacks to give N. We first found them at Kiddy Palace, then I discovered that they were on RedMart as well! They’re cheap and tasty (yes, I’ve eaten some myself) with nothing else added to it. Once opened I store them in a zipbag so they can last. My favourites are the tomato sticks and the cheese sticks!
- Sadia Pepper Grilled Chicken Breast. These are perfect for those nights that you’ve nothing to serve for dinner (for baby and yourselves!). I just pop them into the air-fryer, cut hers up into smaller pieces and serve with a simple aglio or side. They are juicy and tasty and worth the price!
- Tamar Valley Yoghurt. N is a H U G E fan of yoghurt! I used to serve her plain greek ones topped with chia seeds, but I gradually introduced her to flavoured yogurt when I got this blueberry and tropical flavoured ones. Watch out for the mess!
- Rascal + Friends diapers. We used to be hard fans of Huggies but they’re not exactly on the affordable side and with me now staying home, I sourced for a cheaper alternative. I was introduced to this brand by a cousin and so far we love it! N is now on pull-ups so we get the Pants version and we’ve never had a leak or rash. Fingers crossed!
- Italian Baby Spinach. I incorporate spinach in her meals whenever I can – in scrambled eggs, in her rice balls, in her pesto or in her potatoes. These work great. I freeze them flat in a zip bag, and once frozen I smash them into little pieces – I love not having to chop them each time I want to cook them!
Rest assured that all I actually do use all these items regularly. Try them out, and let me know if you like them!
